TUGGERAH LAKE WINDSURF - 8 DECEMBER 2018

A Saturday morning surf check … not much potential.

Jacinta and I drove to the Terrigal Haven, did a couple of walking laps then coffee on the beach. The wind was a little strong and the water was uninviting with clumps of seaweed but it was nice sitting in the sun and chatting.

Back home and did a few yard tasks then it was off for a windsurf on Tuggerah Lake.

I launched at the old fishing cooperative. I had a good time … walloped numerous times, nice smooth bigger than small jumps and a lot of speed. The wind had a number of holes in it so I lost the momentum a number of times and sank into the briny deep.

I did video but unfortunately, the camera had shifted on the helmet so the vids were of the top of the sail and sky. Haha.

I did GPS the ride which gave interesting data about the ride... about a 13km

The wind was up and down but mainly up. It was a great day! There hadn't been much wind for awhile so it was good to get back into it again.

CENTRAL COAST - Canton Beach - windsurf - 20 august 2011

It looked like it was going to be a great day windsurfing. The wind was howling all night. Unfortunately, it didn't quite do it. There were a couple of good runs but it was too up and down.

A few guys went out and had some fun runs.

CENTRAL COAST - North Entrance - windsurf - 18 december 2010

Good day for the lighter weights, big big boards or big sails. At one stage, the wind came up a notch and it was fun. Unfortunately, I broke a harness line and Lance went through his sail.

CENTRAL COAST - North Entrance - windsurf - 27 November 2010

The north east wind was looking strong but once out past the second bouy, it was ferocious. Great flat water and wind-chop waves further out.

There were a few big wipeouts and a lot of sailing very close to the cameraman.

Sailors were Lance, Mark, Todd and Peter.

The video has a number of spilt scenes and slow motion footage of to-close-to the cameraman shots.

AUSTRALIA - Lennox Head - september 2010

We stayed for a week at Lennox Head at the camping area next to Lake Ainsworth.

It is an excellent camp site with Lake Ainsworth, a tea stained fresh water lake on one side and Lennox Head beach on another. The day consists of swimming on the beach, swimming in the lake and back to the camp site. This is all within a few minutes walking distance.

There were a lot of things to do in the area. The flat area makes it great for bike riding and the the beach sand is firm enough at low tide to also cycle along.

There are good waves along the beach and at the point. there are also other surfing breaks within a short drive.

When the wind is up there are windsurfers and kite boarders on the beach.

The walk to and around the headland is great with excellent views from the headland over the point and town.

CENTRAL COAST - Tuggerah Lake - The Entrance - kayak - 24 december 2009

Started on the north side of the Entrance bridge. Paddled down the channel to the bridge and criss-crossed to the south side. Paddled wide due the shallowness of the water. Eventually, paddled around the far island in the lake and back and around the island near the old fishing cooperative and then down the channel to the bridge.

A lot of bird life within a short distance of man made environment was a bit of a constrast. Quite often fish would leap from the water.

time: 2 1/2 hours

India - Srinagar - 1986

A very steep bus ride from New Dehli and into Kashmir. Srinagar is a spread out town aaround the south end of the Dal Lake. Houseboats are moored in the lake with mountain backdrops. Very pretty. Stayed in a houseboat for a few days but the sellers coming to the boat were regular and persistent. Moved into hotel by the lake shores. The lake flooded while there and so needed a boat to get into and out of the hotel.

The food was great and very different to the rest of India. Lots of nuts and dried fruit.

The big attraction was boating on the lake and its tributaries. Cycled around a reasonable section of the lake and visited lots of gardens.

Indonesia - Sumatra - Lake Toba - 1982

Coming back from Nais, stopped at Lake Toba for a few days. It was very pretty and scenic. Walked over and around the island in the centre of the lake.

AUSTRALIA - Myall Lakes NP - Mungo Brush - rainforest HIKE - january 2009

Travelling along the Mango Brush Road northwards takes one to Myall Lakes National Park. At Mango Brush camping area there is a rainforest walk that runs close and next to the lake. It is a short walk that leads to another camp area.

The track is a trail some of the time with dense rainforest, lizards and birdlife.

The lake is excellent for swimming or other water sports.

time: about 1 hour return

Italy - Molveno - july 2006

Molveno is a small town in the north east of Italy. It is a beautiful town perched along the slopes leading up from the lake. The scenery is a backdrop of a blue lake and rugged mountain ranges.

The lake was excellent for a swim and we hired bikes to circumnavigate the lake. We stopped at spots for more swims. the hills around were great for quiet but steep walks. The chairlift was easier!

AUSTRALIA - Lake Jindabyne - january 2008

We camp for a few days beside Lake Jindabyne, just outside Jindabyne. It was a handy location to the town and the summer walks of Threadbo and Perisher Valley. The lake was very pretty in the early morning and late afternoon. Swimming was a bit chilly but okay.
