Sri Lanka - 1982

Followed the coast from columbo to Hikkaduwa. Surfed there for a few weeks. Travelled through the inland countryside. Great place with good food and nice people. Beaches are excellent.

Thailand - 1982

Travelled up the east coast of Thailand. Stayed at koi Samui for a week, then north to Bangkok. Stayed at Chang mai and did a jungle trek for five days. It was very muddy but the villages were all so different.

Malaysia - 1982

Travelled up the west coast of Malaysia from Singapore to Penang. Then flew to Medan. On return travelled across Cameron Highlands then followed the west coast to Thailand.

penang is a great city and the east coast though quiet was nice.

 

Singapore - 1982

Stayed in Singapore for a few days. It was an interesting city with lots of markets, eating places and places of interest. the coast was pretty in parts

Indonesia - Sumatra - Lake Toba - 1982

Coming back from Nais, stopped at Lake Toba for a few days. It was very pretty and scenic. Walked over and around the island in the centre of the lake.

Indonesia - Nias - 1982

It was a hard trip to get to Nias. Bus across sumatra, then an overnight ferry to guninstoli and then another overnight ferry to telok dalam. malaria was rife and centipede bites were nightly. still, a beautiful place.

A few guys got sick from infections or illnesses. The trip back was just as hard. the villages in the mountains were like a step back in time. it wasn't that long ago your head would have been a trophy.

India - 1982

Travelled on my own from the the southern tip zig-zagging until reaching New Delhi, then across to varanasi and up through the land border of nepal. amazing people, customs and scenery.

Indonesia - Bali - 1982

Not many photos but it was an age of non-digital. I met lots of people and motorcycled around the island. Travelled on local boat to Nusa Lembongan.
