TERRIGAL LAGOON KAYAK - 3 JUNE 2019

A lot of off and on rain and wind today. Between one of the calmer weather periods I did a kayak on Terrigal Lagoon.

The water was just just deep enough to paddle to the western part of the lagoon where there two small natural tributaries. Once in this area the trees blocked the wind an the water became glassy and reflective. The only water movement was the slight wake of my kayak. I paddled slowly here soaking in the quietness. There were also a number of submerged logs and overhanging vegetation to maneuver around as well.

I backtracked along the shallow channels and paddled towards Terrigal Beach. I beached on the beach and wandered down to the shore and watched the small crisp waves breaking on the shallow sandbank. The waves were  too fast and small to surf but they ere enjoyable to watch.

A nice kayak full of contrasts.

CENTRAL COAST - WAMBERAL LAGOON - KAYAK - 10 DECEMBER 2014

An early morning kayak on Wamberal Lagoon.



This morning I was joined by my friend, John.

The conditions were glassy and the sky cloudy.

The water was high so we were able to paddle across a few usually dry places.

There were  number of birds including cormorants and black swans.

The small tributary at the west end of the lagoon was a great paddle. It was still, dark and narrow. We were able to paddle through the reeds and between the trees.

It was a fun and pleasant paddle.

CENTRAL COAST - TERRIGAL LAGOON – KAYAK – 29 SEPTEMBER 2014 - 'OH! WHAT A BEAUTIFUL MORNING..'

It was another beautiful morning.

I launched the kayak at the car park at Terrigal Lagoon with the sun radiating over the lagoon at a horizontal angle.

I paddled under the bridge towards the west. There were a number of birds wading in the water searching for food or pruning themselves.  I couldn’t venture too far as the lagoon had been emptied (the council does this when the lagoon threatens to flood houses on the shoreline) making the water shallow.

Backtracking, I paddled under the bridge which was reflecting the water patterns its concrete base. Looked good

I also paddled around the northern end which was a mixture of bushland and residential properties.

It was a pleasant and fun paddle with reflections and birds.
