I woke early and drove with lights on so it was pretty early. I passed the beaches and there was enough light to see that it was an onshore wind blowing. I decided to keep to my plan of a kayak at Ourimbah Creek.
I parked behind the Chittaway Shopping Centre and there was an easy launch into the creek.
At the beginning, I passed under the Wyong Road bridge and after the a short distance the birds became the dominate sound. they were squawking and screeching in the trees and flying here and there. They must have just woken up. :)
I continued and my next experience were lizards. They were in the trees, on the shore or lying still in the water with their heads above the surface. They weren't in a friendly mood and they took flight even when I was a fair distance away.
The second event was the railway bridge. I passed under it as a train was travelling on it. It was so loud and thunderous. No wonder the animals were quiet in this section.
A short distance later was a low walled weir and the pylons of the old railway bridge. It was a bit tricky getting over the weir with out toppling into the water. I wandered around on the area crossing over the weir and rocks then following a track for a short distance along the banks of the creek towards the west.
I had two more obstacles where I had to porter the kayak. these were fun as there was always the possibility of having an unintentional dip.
The end of the journey was a large and long blockage of intertwined branches across the creek and its banks.
An adventurous and challenging 7.7 km kayak.
I stopped at Terrigal Haven on the way home and joined Jacinta for coffee. After that, I had a refreshing swim.
Later, my daughter and I went to the Haven where she had a sunbake and I had another swim.
Looking forward to a family dinner out tonight.

CENTRAL COAST - BRISBANE WATER - EAST GOSFORD - KAYAK - 22 JANUARY 2015
The morning was nice, the surf was poor so off for a kayak.
I was going to Woy Woy but the tide was too low and launching was difficult due to mud and oyster shells so I drove over to the East Gosford Sailing Club and launched from the small beach next to it.
The water was glassy and reflective and the weather warm.
A lone small motor boat caused a ripple that oscillated across the bay. It looked nice.
I paddled over to Iguanas restaurant which is built over the water. I paddled under the structure. It was quite a different experience looking at the underside of a building via kayak. The posts will eventually rot and will make a difficult job to replace.
I continued to paddle over to the railway bridge. I fished as I was paddling. I checked my line when I reached the bridge and I had caught a fish. It was the first fish I have caught using lures. It was small so I returned it to the water.
I paddled and fished around the bridge for awhile. No more bites but it was nice drifting with the tide.
A short but pleasant 2km kayak.

CENTRAL COAST - Fagans Bay - kayak - 22 October 2009
There is easy entry into water and plenty of parking at Adcock Park, West Gosford.
Starting off in Narara Creek, I paddled into the bay and the incoming tide slowly pushed me towards the west end of the bay. There were plenty of bird life and jumping fish.
The paddle back east was easy despite the incoming tide. Mangroves line the shore throughout the bay.
The centre of the bay has mangrove islands. i skirted the edge of these islands towards and along the railway lines. There were interesting views from under the train bridge of Brisbane Waters and the old railway bridge piers.
I returned west along the mangrove fringe to Narara Creek.
Highlights: bird life, jumping fish, railway bridge, drifting with the tide.
Time: 2 1/2 hours
