CENTRAL COAST - 1 TO 7 JANUARY 2023

1 JANUARY

The start of a new year ... so much to see ... so much to do :)

An early morning mountain bike ride at Kincumba Mountain. It was eerily quiet and not a soul about.

After the ride, I had an ocean swim at Terrigal Haven. More humans here but still very quiet.

It was such a hot day. I had a second ocean swim in the afternoon to cool down.

2 JANUARY

A hike with Jacinta to Strom lookout at Bouddi National Park. We followed the tracks which was heaps better than the trail.

An ocean swim at Terrigal Haven. So many sights along the way – catfish, a large grouper and a manta ray. :)

4 JANUARY

A mountain bike at Rocky Point. The track has become a bit more challenging with higher drop offs and exposed tree roots.

After the ride, I had an ocean swim the Haven.

5 JANUARY

A windsurf at Canton Beach. The wind was howling and to start there was no one out on the water. I put up my smallest sail - 4.2metres - and the action was no stop for two hours. My gybing was very rusty but towards the end of the session it seemed better.

6 JANUARY

We had a trip to Sydney to see Jacinta's brother, Mark, who is in age care. Good to see the young fella.

7 JANUARY

A windsurf at Canton beach. The wind wasn't as strong as two days ago, so I used my 6.3  metre sail. I had a lot of problems with it last year but finally, I got it working well. It still needs a few more adjustments. A fun session. Bill, Paul, Graham and lance were also there. :)

WAMBERAL BEACH SURF, TOOWOON BAY SNORKEL, BOUDDI NP MTB - 16 NOVEMBER 2017

14 November 2017

Surf check at North Avoca Beach. No one out but that isn't surprising as there was a shark attack on the beach yesterday.

Next stop, Wamberal Beach. The waves looked okay so out I paddled. The current was very strong and the crowd though small was aggressive. I got a few waves then paddled down to the next sand bank. The current wasn't as strong but the waves were very bumpy. I caught a few waves then came in.

Jeckle and his son Bryce were at the viewing platform. We chatted for awhile.

The waves seemed to improved and the crowd had dropped to two. I paddled back out and had a great surf on good waves. The current was not as strong and the waves were better. I surfed until the wind started to change.

15 November 2017

A morning surf check at Wamberal Beach - a bit small and not as good looking as the last two days. I had a chat with Mark and Brank, then headed over to Toowoon Bay for a snorkel.

The wind was a blowing ripples across the water and some small waves were breaking on the outer rocks. The water was a little turbulent and so visibility was only okay. There were a few fish and it was nice watching the seaweed swap with the water motion.

I was a bit chilled so I had a wander around the beach then a coffee at the surf club.

Back home to a number of inside chores then up to the local mall with Kara to buy a few things, then back home to the chores.

16 November 2017

I checked the a number of beaches for surf - Wamberal and North Avoca Beach were messy and Copacabana Beach was protected from the wind but the surf was flat.

Next stop was Bouddi National Park. I parked at the top of Wards Hill and rode along the informal tracks to Stroms Lookout. There were a lot of wildflowers in bloom near the carpark.

It was a fun two kilometre ride with a narrow track, small drop offs, sloping sandstone boulders and sharp burrawangs (a plant). The view from the lookout over Hardys Bay and other parts of Brisbane Water was panoramic. I always enjoy this view. It's nice to have a ride with a reward like a view, waterfall, etc.

Afterwards, I drove to Killcare Beach for a coffee and sit in the sun before heading home.

The rest of the day was frantic and busy. My daughter has chronic fatigue and its associated problems. She is currently on a new treatment. The treatments are sort of like one step back and two steps forward. Today was the definitely the step back.

BOUDDI NP MTB - 16 MAY 2017

A mountain bike ride at Bouddi National Park in the morning.

I rode the tracks to Strom lookout.  It started as a service road then there was a track to the left. I followed this and came to a number of turn offs that weren't there before. New tracks!

I followed the track that veered in the direction the Strom Lookout. What a great track which run roughly parallel with the service road but lower down the slope. It was so much fun.

Eventually, it connected with the service road and I followed that to the Strom Lookout.  An amazing view over Brisbane Water on a sunny and clear morning.

I continued to follow the service road to the end and once again there was another new track. This was much harder and heaps of fun. At one point, there was a track to the left that lead downhill on steep berms. I followed it part of the way but decided to complete it when I had more time. I came back up and continued along the track till it joined on to the service road and back to the start.

What a great 2.25 adventurous and challenging ride.

In the afternoon, I joined Jacinta for a walk around the Terrigal Haven. I did one lap and sat on the Haven Beach and enjoyed the sunset and the afternoon stillness while Jacinta did another lap.

BOUDDI NP - ALLEN STROM TRAIL MTB - 29 JULY 2016

At Bouddi national park for a bike ride.

The Allen Strom track is fun with a few narrow tracks and ending oin a great view.

The bush scenery is a bit Jurassic looking and spiky.

A fun 2.56 km ride.

CENTRAL COAST - 4 TO 11 MARCH 2023

4 MARCH I woke and unloaded and tidied the van. I drove Jacinta to the Hens party for Chloe at Glenworth Valley. Back home and I tidi...
