 15 January

A mountain bike ride on Kincumba Mountain.

17 January

A surf at North Avoca Beach. The waves were good but a little crowded. I sat a bit to north of the main crowd and had a fun time on the set waves and the wider breaks.

A bit of energy to burn so I had a mountain bike ride on the Warrah tracks at Brisbane Water National Park. The tracks are generally flat over dirt or sandstone. The PMG track is a little different being steep and eroded. Definitely, a  wild ride which pushed me my limits at times. J

18 January

A morning surf at North Avoca Beach with Ian. There were nice rights with a much smaller crowd than yesterday. Once again, I surfed a bit wider of the crowd and had some fun waves.

19 January

A windsurf at Canton Beach in Tuggerah Lake. Well no, as a sewer main had burst and polluted a portion of  the lake. Darn, I had been waiting for a good southerly to try the new sail. A little disappointed! L

20 January

I drove up to Hawks Nest to buy a SUP. A long day!

21 January

My first go on my new 2^nd hand SUP and 2^nd go ever on a SUP. I started a bit wobbly on Terrigal Lagoon. I spent mt time getting use to paddling and working out where to put my feet. Unfortunately, the paddle broke which put an end to the session. Back home it was a relatively easy job to fix it.

1 November

A surf at Wamberal Beach.

It was mid-tide early so I managed to get enough waves before the high tide swallowed the breaks. Some fun rights and the lefts were a bit full but okay. The temperature dropped a lot by the end of the session. It was home for  hot shower.

3 November

A mountain bike ride at Brisbane Water National Park.

I parked at Warrah Road and set off on the bike. I explored the tessellated rock platform then raced along the track parallel to Patonga Road. Towards the end of the track, there was a new track to the right. I followed it to top of the opposite rock platform. There was another new track in the far north east corner. The track was rough, through thick vegetation, over rocks and there were a lot of sections I had to get off (too hard for moi). I didn’t get to end as it got heaps harder so I backtracked.

Next, was nearby Pearl Beach for sit and coffee.

13 November 2020

A hike at Strickland State Forest.

A mid morning hike along the arboretum and bellbird tracks. Highlights - a number of short turnoffs down the sandy creeks that parallel the tracks, clear shallow water, bird calls, palms oscillating in the breeze, no one else on the tracks, no leeches and a short suspension bridge.

14 November 2020

Jacinta and I had breakfast at Killcare beach an watched the ocean and the beach activities. There were even occasional okay waves.

15 November 2020

A fun surf at Wamberal Beach.

The tide was going high but the waves were small but good for about an hour.

16 November 2020

The surf was small and onshore so I popped back home picked up the kayak and headed for Wamberal Lagoon.

It was a pleasant kayak with highlights of reflective water, the sun flickering in and out of view through the she oaks, a small number of birds fossicking on the shoreline and a short walk on Wamberal Beach.

17 November

A morning mountain bike and hike to the top of Mount Wondabyne in Brisbane Water National Park.

The journey to the mount was a gradual uphill along a number of tracks/trails until the final turn off which was steeper. The edges of the trail were festooned in yellow flowers in sections.

At the base of the mount, I hid my bike in the dense vegetation and rock scrambled to the top. The views at the top were awesome across an endless hinterland of shades of green. I sat at the trig marker for awhile enjoying the height.

The journey back by bike was downhill and fast. A lot of loose rocks made for exciting conditions. About halfway back, I came across a small flock of yellow tailed black cockatoos. I stopped for a short while watching their antics with the young and listening to their raucous screeching.

19 November

A surf checked revealed small weak waves so it was off for coffee on Terrigal Beach, a dip in the ocean and a walk along the beach with the sun rising.

30 JUNE 2020

A kayak with Kara on Terrigal Lagoon.

There was plenty of water in the lagoon so we were able to paddle a long far into the south west tributaries. 

The vegetation was thick and the water reflected the mirror image.

1 JULY 2020

 A mid morning mountain bike ride on the tracks near Warrah Trig in Brisbane Water National Park.

An early afternoon surf at Wamberal Beach with Ken.

Not the best as the waves were inconsistent and random but it was nice getting into the water.

9 JULY 2020

A kayak on Avoca Lagoon.

An early paddle and the sir was a bit crisp. A cold mist was levitating from the water's surface.

The ducks were the dominate feature. there were a lot of the them and it was calming to watch them go about on their duck business.

11 JULY 2020

A surf at Wamberal Beach. Good conditions but the waves were lacking.

12 JULY 2020

A hike south along the coast south of Pearl Beach with Jacinta.

A beautiful day and a great hike.

There were a two small beaches along the way and some rocks to climb on and over. The relatively flattish rocky shoreline was a bit slippery in parts so we needed to take care with where we stepped.

OVERVIEW

 I've been very busy of late doing home maintenance and projects so I haven't been out and about too much.

My accomplishments - an aviary for Kara's birds, painted front walls of house, beautified the garden, van repairs, painted/fixed back top deck, rearranged inside furnishings and heaps of small jobs.

It was fun doing them but soon we will will back on the road. Our destinations will be limited due to corona restrictions and future restrictions so will take each day as they come.
