NAROOMA AND SURROUNDS - 6 TO 8 APRIL 2021

NAROOMA

6 April

The weather was predicted to rain so we decided to head back to Narooma to stay for the next couple of nights.

On the way, we stopped at Corunna Lake where I had an adventurous kayak and Jacinta had a hike around the lake shore. I was excited to sight an Azure Kingfisher.

We decided to check the surf before settling into our camp. I had a fun surf in good waves at Kianga Beach. The sets were about shoulder height.

We drove to our camping area and settled down to a relaxing late afternoon rest.

7 April

An easy morning, with threatening cloud but on blue skies eventuated.

We drove to Bar Beach. I had a fun surf on lefts and rights that were heaps of fun at about shoulder height on the sets. Jacinta relaxed on the beach.

Next was Narooma Beach where we had lunch. Another pretty beach!

We checked a lookout over Narooma where the view was obscured by trees. A short drive from there and we arrived at the Box Cutters Rainforest track. It was an easy short hike with a steep descent and finish. The rainforest was dark and there were no sounds.

8 April

We left our camp site and headed slowly north.

We stopped at Kianga Beach, where I had a shoulder height good surf while Jacinta enjoyed the beach.

NAROOMA ND SURROUNDS - 31 MARCH TO 3 APRIL 2021

31 March

The drive to Narooma from Bermagui was an adventure.

We stopped at Camel Rock to check the surf. There were some okay waves but much too infrequent to surf.

The next stop was Corunna Lake. It was too windy but it would be an excellent kayak.

We backtracked a few kilometres to Mystery Bay. We checked out the campsite. It was a bit rough but nice. The beach was very pretty and I had a brisk swim and caught a few small waves in the clear waters. We chatted with a few nice people who were staying there.

Onward to Narooma. We checked into the camp and after lunch wandered over the road for coffee.

After a rest, we had a bike ride on the foreshore of Wagonga Inlet. It was an interesting ride with estuary and coastal views. At Wagonga Head there were heaps of seals. It was amazing watching them frolic and laze on the rocks.

1 April

32nd wedding anniversary.

We woke had a leisurely breakfast and drove out to Bar Beach. I had a small surf with a lot of backwash. It was fun! We sat on the beach for ages.

Later, we had dinner at O’Brien's Pub. A fantastic view of the estuary and a great dinner. After that, we went to the cinema and watched a movie about camping in vans – ‘Nomadland’ – It was a little depressing.

2 April

We cycled to Bar Beach South. It was a very pretty ride with an old bridge and boardwalk. There were great views of the waterway. We sat on the beach and I had a couple of swims in the clear water.

In the afternoon, we had a cycle along the coastal pathway from Narooma to Dalmeny. A great ride past heaps of pretty beaches, headlands, rocky shorelines and small lagoons teeming with birdlife. It was a 16 km ride.

3 April

We packed and set off towards Bega with maybe some detours.

CENTRAL COAST - 4 TO 11 MARCH 2023

4 MARCH I woke and unloaded and tidied the van. I drove Jacinta to the Hens party for Chloe at Glenworth Valley. Back home and I tidi...
