TOOWOON BAY SNORKEL - 29 MARCH 2017

A flat surf day this morning with very light wind and an incoming tide. The ocean was looking very glassy.

I walked along the beach at Toowoon Bay and entered the water where the sand meets the island for a snorkel.

The water was a bit weedy to start with a strong current moving over the shallow sections.

As soon as I put my head under the water there were fish zooming over a sand and rock background.

I snorkeled out towards the sup riders on the point first. I didn't get as far as the sup riders as the visibility deteriorated too much. Along the way, I saw fish, pretty coloured rocks and seaweed, stingrays and a small shark.

I backtracked and crossed the narrow channel between the beach and the island. It was hard going as the tide as working strongly against me. I did see lots of fish feeding amongst the seaweed.

I continued onwards close to the rocks and small waves. The tide and waves pushed me in and out but eventually I got to the deeper water and saw a massive blue coloured groper.

I fed the fish sending them into a wild frenzy and went in via the beach.

One unusual event was a large fish that followed me nearly the full length of my snorkel.

I warmed up with a coffee and relax at the kiosk at the surf club over looking the bay and beach.

NORTH AVOCA AND KILLCARE BEACHES - 27 MARCH 2017

A glorious sunrise this morning at North Avoca Beach.

There was a one left breaking wave but I decided to check Wamberal Beach.

I ended up having a short surf at Wamberal but it wasn't as good as it looked and it didn't look that good either.

Down to Terrigal Surf Club for a coffee and sit watching the sunlight twinkle on the water.

Later, Kara, Mr Archiebald and I went to Killcare Beach.

We sat in the sun under the shade of a coastal Banksia. MR Archiebald enjoyed the tree and it blooming flowers.

We had a dip in the rockpool and lunch at the surf club.

A nice afternoon.

WAMBERAL BEACH SURF - 26 MARCH 2017

A fun surf today on at Wamberal Beach. The sun was a shining. I has been cloudy and wet over the past few weeks.

I had a great time though it was more crowded this morning. A couple of waves were at head height. :)

I took some photos after my surf. They were pictures of random guys except the two guys on the beach who are friends of mine.

NARRABEEN LAKE AND CREEKS KAYAK - 25 MARCH 2017

I was up very early this morning for an hour plus drive to Narrabeen Lake.

I parked in a reserve off Wimbledon Avenue and launched off a small beach.

The morning started glassy with a partially cloudy sunrise. There were a number of of people kayaking and rowing on the lake.

I paddled around circumference of the lake and took three detours into the feeding creeks - deep, middle and beside the golf course.

Deep creek was very interesting as there was a bridge , old brick work and very thick vegetation. It was very green and pretty.

The golf course creek ended in a weir with water cascading over the edge.

The lake itself was okay in parts but a lot was fairly developed with paths and roads easily seen from the water. Still it was a nice long 13. 36 km paddle with some nice birdlife.

TERRIGAL BEACH - THE BEND SURF - 24 MARCH 2017

What a fun and good surf this morning.

I checked the bend at Terrigal Beach and it looked okay.

I paddled out and surfed lefts and rights with just a few guys for about an hour. The waves were heaps good, especially, the lefts. I was very lucky and happened to be in the right spot when the larger waves broke.

The crowd picked up but everyone seemed to be ignoring the lefts.

I got out feeling good.

WAMBERAL BEACH SURF - 22 MARCH 2017

I checked the surf at North Avoca but it looked like it would get worse on the lowing tide.

I paddled out at Wamberal Beach near the ruins. There was right hander running along the sandbank.

The waves were off and on but I had a fun surf for an hour and a half all to myself before the tide got too low.

Later, I saw 'Logan' the X-man movie. A lot of action which I enjoyed.

KINCUMBA MOUNTAIN MTB - 21 MARCH 2017

A nice rlde on the tracks at Kincumba Mountain. The photo above shows where the track use to go.

I met a lady coming up the mountain with ease. She was 70 years old. An inspiration.

WAMBERAL BEACH, TERRIGAL BEACH - SURF, HIKE - 20 MARCH 2017

The wind was form the east and there looked like a few okay waves at Wamberal Beach.

I got two okay waves but spent most of my time duck diving under the sets. It was nice to get wet.

After the surf, I went for a hike along Terrigal Beach and the rocks at the south end.

It was overcast but there was no rain. An easy pleasant walk.

Nice patterns on the sandstone.

COPACABANA LAGOON KAYAK - 19 MARCH 2017

Off for a kayak at Copacabana Lagoon.

The water level was very high due to the prolong and heavy rains.

The wind was very strong from the east but there were sheltered and pretty areas.

I paddled along the far tributary that feeds the lagoon.

At the far end of the tributary is a bridge connecting the two sides of the farming property. A great paddle under though large spiders were a bit daunting.

Out onto the open waters and blustery conditions.

There were a lot of birds about seeking shelter - black swans and herons to name a few.
