29 MARCH
MAYFIELD BAY
CONSERVATION AREA
Our first stop after
leaving Triabunna was petrol and food supplies.
We took a short detour
to the SALTWORKS COASTAL RESERVE. There were stone built remnants of the
building of a private saltworks. Very interesting! A short walk to a long
white sand beach and up a small headland. Good coastal views.
Next stop was our campsite at MAYFIELD BAY CONSERVATION AREA. This was a free camp area with toilets. We settled in on a level site then had a walk to the three arched bridge and along the beach. The bridge was amazing. You could walk through one of the long narrow arches and admired the brick work that was involved in its construction. The beach was pretty.
Back at
camp, we lit a fire using wood we brought and wood from the beach. The latter
was the better wood.
30 MARCH
MAYFIELD CONSERVATION
AREA
A great sleep and woke
to the sounds of rain drops on the van awning.
I had a morning walk
along the beach. I thought of a swim but stopped at the knees. Haha.
We had breakfast and
off we went.
