23 MARCH
RICHMOND
We left Bruny Island
and were second last to get on the ferry. We drove to Snug for petrol and
stopped at Margate for coffee and some food supplies.
Next stop was the COAL
RIVER FARM for high tea. This was a birthday gift from our daughters for
Jacinta. The food was great four cheeses, nuts and solid honey, six signature
chocolates and wine. Our table had a nice view over the farm lands and
waterways.
We did a short drive
through historic Richmond and then checked into our camp area.
Back at camp, we met a
lovely couple from Victoria and had a long enjoyable chat.
24 MARCH
RICHMOND
After breakfast we got
on the bikes and cycled to Richmond, the town. We parked the bikes in the
centre of town then wandered along the streets. The buildings were of colonial
style but restored to look elegant and rustic. We stopped at the gaol and
wandered around the small complex and learned about its history of hardship,
depravity and brutality. We stopped for lunch and listened to a buster on a
harp. We spied a wine tasting cellar and after two expensive bottles we left.
We rode the bikes to the Richmond bridge and the catholic church.
After a short rest,
back at camp, we set off for Puddleduck Winery for some wine tasting and wine
spiel. The wines were good and we brought 1/2 dozen.
25 MARCH
We woke early to a
brilliant morning of blue skies and sun. We are on the road again!
