CENTRAL COAST - 26 JANUARY TO 8 FEBRUARY 2023

 26 JANUARY

We drove back from a two week road trip while we had the wooden floors being restored. The floors looked great! Now to put everything back. This will take a few days. Haha!

27 JANUARY

An early walk around some of the tracks at Kincumba Mountain. Very quiet. Down to the Haven where Jacinta continued walking and I had an ocean swim. Coffee on the beach.

Back to getting things back in place at home.

29 JANUARY

Cooler day.

A walk around the Haven with Jacinta. Coffee on beach.

Finally, got everything back in place in the living room. Now to get on with other things.

A few visitors. Haha

30 JANUARY

A windsurf at Canton Beach. The wind had just a bit too much east to it so it wasn’t very good. The first run was the best but I hit a shallow section and wham the knee into the boom. A few cuts and a lot of bruises. The rest of the session was off/on wind.

2 FEBRUARY

An ocean swim at Terrigal Haven

3 FEBRUARY

A kayak on Terrigal Lagoon.

There was enough water in the lagoon to paddle to the western backwaters. Very quiet amongst the mangroves and casuarinas. I paddled to the beach and had a wander as well.

4 FEBRUARY

So hot, so busy lately, so many things to sort out. 😊 We got in a coffee and apple muffin on the haven beach.

5 FEBRUARY

A surf at North Avoca Beach. It was fun with a very strong rip. Had a few nice waves and quite a few nose dives. It got better as the tide got higher.

6 FEBRUARY

Hep B first shot.

Later, I had a kayak at Kincumber Creek with Angus. A different sort of kayak starting at the Kincumber boat ramp - past mangroves, houses, a mixture of overhanging trees and ending at large drainage pipes.

7 FEBRUARY

Surf check North Avoca Beach.

Decided on a mountain bike Kincumba Mountain. A short fun ride of about an hour.

Another surf check of North Avoca Beach. A fun surf on the rights. Much better than two days ago. A lot of good waves till the wind increased.

Blood tests for cholesterol and prostrate checkup.

8 FEBRUARY

A surf North Avoca with Terry. Not so good (bumpy, random) but there were a few good waves. A lot of jellyfish.

CENTRAL COAST - 1 TO 7 JANUARY 2023

1 JANUARY

The start of a new year ... so much to see ... so much to do :)

An early morning mountain bike ride at Kincumba Mountain. It was eerily quiet and not a soul about.

After the ride, I had an ocean swim at Terrigal Haven. More humans here but still very quiet.

It was such a hot day. I had a second ocean swim in the afternoon to cool down.

2 JANUARY

A hike with Jacinta to Strom lookout at Bouddi National Park. We followed the tracks which was heaps better than the trail.

An ocean swim at Terrigal Haven. So many sights along the way – catfish, a large grouper and a manta ray. :)

4 JANUARY

A mountain bike at Rocky Point. The track has become a bit more challenging with higher drop offs and exposed tree roots.

After the ride, I had an ocean swim the Haven.

5 JANUARY

A windsurf at Canton Beach. The wind was howling and to start there was no one out on the water. I put up my smallest sail - 4.2metres - and the action was no stop for two hours. My gybing was very rusty but towards the end of the session it seemed better.

6 JANUARY

We had a trip to Sydney to see Jacinta's brother, Mark, who is in age care. Good to see the young fella.

7 JANUARY

A windsurf at Canton beach. The wind wasn't as strong as two days ago, so I used my 6.3  metre sail. I had a lot of problems with it last year but finally, I got it working well. It still needs a few more adjustments. A fun session. Bill, Paul, Graham and lance were also there. :)

CENTRAL COAST - 15 TO 21 JANUARY 2022

 15 JANUARY 2022

An afternoon swim at Terrigal Haven. On the way home, there were rain, thunder and lightning. Good timing.

16 JANUARY 2022

An early morning surf check. The conditions were looking good but there was no quality.

A mountain bike ride at Brisbane Water NP on the Tommos Loop Trail.

An easy ride along a trail with a few narrow side tracks. There were a few muddy sections due to yesterday afternoon heavy rain but apart from that it was dry and firm. A few good downhill sections and a fast return along Woy Woy Road. Half way along a met a guy taking bird photos with a massive lens. He chatted and he showed me a few of his photos.

17 JANUARY 2022

An afternoon swim at Terrigal haven

The visibility was still poor but it was nice to get wet.

18 JANUARY 2022

An early surf check.

It wasn’t too good but there were a few random ones coming through at The Ruins that looked okay.

A windsurf at Canton Beach.

The wind had increased but not quite enough. I had my largest sail 6’3” but I was only puttering. Still, I twerked my sail rig and by the end it was starting to feel good. The next three days are predicted to be strong winds. Fingers crossed.

19 JANUARY 2022

A terrible windsurf at Canton Beach. The wind had too much east and wasn't getting onto the lake.

20 JANUARY

A no windsurf at Canton Beach. It looked like there was a stronger SE wind but once again it wasn't getting onto the lake.

A hike with Jacinta at Rumbalara.

We did a few laps of the top loop and along the ridge. there were great views over Brisbane Water and there was no one else on the tracks.

A swim at the Terrigal Haven. The visibility was poor and the water was dirty. Glad I had ear plugs.

I had my covid booster and didn't feel any side effects. Ha wait till tomorrow.

21

Woke up sore and felt like I had been put in a washing machine from the covid booster. That eased off and converted to vertigo.

In the afternoon, I went to the dentist for two crown insertions.

Haha, now my jaw was numb and later sore.

A not so great day!

CENTRAL COAST - 17 TO 31 DECEMBER 2021

17 DECEMBER

A fun surf at Wamberal Beach north of big house.

A good right hander, a little bumpy, strong rip, good shape, three out, heaps of waves.

18 DECEMBER

A surf north of the big house at Wamberal Beach.

Not so good today but okay. A bit more crowded and the waves were smaller and dropping down on the end section. Still paddled out twice for two sessions. J

21 DECEMBER

Marty and family arrived. Let the fun begin.

A swim at the Haven.

22 DECEMBER

A hike at Girrakool with Marty’s family. The recent heavy rains revealed more track to follow.

A crap surf at the Ruins but It was fun having a paddle with Marty.

23 DECEMBER

Marty and family left to go north.

A surf north of the Big House at Wamberal Beach. The wind was a light onshore but the waves were good. A fun right hander with Bryceson.

Bronwyn and Tony arrived.

We opened resents after dinner as we were going to Sydney on Xmas Day.

25 DECEMBER

Sean and Angela’s for Christmas lunch J

26 DECEMBER

A fun surf at Wamberal Beach, north of the big house. Low tide and a very early start. Joined by Bryceson. Waves finished at dead low tide.

27 DECEMBER

A windsurf at Canton Beach. The second best for this year. A steady wind with power. The modified mast worked well. The last 400-mast broke so I had to cut down an old mast to 420. All good.

Photo of Bill at end of gybe.

28 DECEMBER

A walk around Terrigal Haven with Jacinta.

30 DECEMBER

A fun surf at Wamberal Beach, north of the big house. Three out and heaps of small waves.

31 DECEMBER

A surf check but not much happening. So off for a kayak at Avoca Lagoon before the wind increase. A nice paddle but the water level was very low so the journey was a bit limited.

New Years Eve and a few beers and asleep by 9pm. Haha. Woke for a short time to the sound of fireworks.

CENTRAL COAST - 19 NOVEMBER TO 16 DECEMBER 2021

We arrived back from our trip - cleaned travel gear, storage stuff and tidied the house.

About a day later it rained and rained and rained for over a week causing massive floods in the state. No much outdoor activity, especially, with a strong onshore wind.

On the November 26, I had my eye operation. A blocked tear duct on my left eye. The operation was successful but I was a bit limited in things I could do over the next two weeks.

I was able to hike and do things around the house.

Unfortunately, my storage drive broken and I lost info and photos from this time. Usually, I store on a second back up device but for some reason I didn't. Ah well, I did mange to retrieve some photos from FB.

When I got home from the operation.

The next morning with the patch off. No pain just discomfort.

A hike around Warrah Trig in Brisbane Water National Park.

A hike at Avoca Point. An easy walk around the rocks with a backdrop of massive cliffs.

A hike on the Strickland Falls and Cabbage Tree tracks in Strickland State Forest. I was able to drive myself to this one. Only a few people at the falls but generally, no one there.

My first try at Mountain Biking at Bouddi National Park. No problems with the eye - no excessive watering or blurred vision. A great ride though it got pretty hot towards the end.

A hike at Mount Ettalong with Jacinta. Only a short hike but the views were amazing, the trees twisted and gnarled and the flannel flowers were blooming.

A hike at Strickland State Forest on the Bellbird track with Jacinta. We didn't hear any bellbirds but there were a couple of pretty creek crossings.

A kayak at Waterfall Bay in Brisbane Water. A good paddle surrounded by big rugged hills, small sandy beaches, interesting rock formations and a pretty waterfall.

A not too successful windsurf at Canton Beach, in Tuggerah Lake. I had one good run and heard a crack on the return leg - cracked a mast. Well, that was the end of potential fun session.

A swim at Terrigal haven but never before lice were biting.

A number of surfs at Wamberal Beach all in fun waves with surprising few others out. Heaps of waves from chest to shoulder height.

Well, that sums things up over the last month. Time for Xmas - presents, decorations, family, friends, great food. Merry Christmas world :)

CENTRAL COAST - 4 TO 11 MARCH 2023

4 MARCH I woke and unloaded and tidied the van. I drove Jacinta to the Hens party for Chloe at Glenworth Valley. Back home and I tidi...
