1 MARCH
WARATAH TO ROSEBERY
I had an early morning
walk around the town lake. There were platypuses making an appearance. It
rained on me twice.
We left Waratah for
Philosophers Falls. We had a nice long hike through a green serene rainforest with
some interesting fungi. There were some disused human carved water races which
were made to carry water to the various mining operations. The last part was a
number of steep steps that lead to a viewing platform of the falls.
We backtracked to Waratah
for petrol and lunch and set off for Tullah.
There were a lot of
roadworks at Tullah, which didn’t make the place too inviting. The camp area
was bleak as well.
Next stop Rosebery.
The camp area was nice. It was backed by cliffs covered in vegetation. With a
nice view of the mountains looking out from our site.
2 MARCH
ROSEBERY TO TRIAL
HARBOUR TO ROSEBERY
We looked at Stitt
Falls which was next to the camp area. A lot of water.
A turn off on a long gravel road took us to Montazuma Falls. This was a great ride on a rail trail. The track started hard but only for a short distance to get onto the actual rail trail. The trail was through rainforest and at the end there was part of an old mine shaft, a suspension and the awesome waterfall. Such a good ride with a worth view at the end.
Next was Zeehan. The
camp area was full and the free camp was a sorry looking car park.
We continued on to
Trial Harbour. I had a surf in great waves but there was an incredibly strong
off shore wind. I only managed to get on four waves and two of those I was
blown off the back of the wave on the take off.
The free camping
looked very overused so we decided to head back to Rosebery.
We had an interesting
afternoon meeting and talking with Rosemary and Katie. Both had good stories to
tell.
