France - Paris - october 2006

Back in Paris. All sick bar one with colds. Still, we mamaged to see some sights and enjoyed ourselves. I dont usually like cities but i do love this place - so interesting, so easy to travel around.

France - Euro Disney - october 2006

Lots of fun in French.

France - Loire Valley - september 2006

We cruised along the river visiting chateaux and their attached gardens. Some had hunting dogs or massive vegetable gardens.
The old quarters of the towns were excellent with lots to see and do.

France - Brittany and Normandie - september 2006

We travelled along the coast of Brittany and Normandie and visited many towns and places. The weather was great and coastline was very changeable. The historical parts both inland and on the coast were very interesting with forts and churches.

France - west coast - september 2006

The weather was wet and cold for a few days, our first since Switzerland. We trabelled along the west coast stopping at various towns, islands and beaches. The crowds had gone and finding hotels was easy but camping areas were mainly closed. everywhere seems to have a 'grande plage' - big beach.

France - south west coast - 2 september 2006

Back to basque coast and the summer is coming to an end. We stayed at Bidart for a week. The crowds were there one day and the next day, empty beaches and surf. Great waves and less traffic. Cool!

Spain - Toledo - september 2006

We stayed a few days in Toledo. Even though it was just about the end of summer, the weather was very hot and dry. The photos don't fully show Toledo as it is very much an experience - walking around the outside of the city, wandering down small alleyways, looking for a place to sit in the cool, visiting various historical buildings and art galleries. Great place!!

Portugal - september 2006

We travelled along the Portugese coast as far as Lisbon. We stayed at most places for a day but in Peniche we stayed for a week. Nice to relax and it was a good base to see the inland towns and the northern and southern coastlines.

Spain - north coast - august 2006

We travelled along the north coast of Spain staying at various towns and visiting sites and  beaches along the way. in some parts the coast was empty of people but in others it was fairly crowded. the coast changed from huge cliffs, flat wide bays and small coves. It was very pretty and there were always surprizes such as caves, good surf, abandoned churches and buildings, great walks and tiny villages.

France - south west coast - august 2006

The Basque coast has wide beautiful beaches to the north and beaches within coves and bays to the south. It is a very pretty coastline. We stayed about a week but it was very crowded with the summer crowds.

THE PYRENNES - France Spain Andorra - august 2006

The Pyrenennes is a mountain range that spans the border between Spain and France. Andorra is a small country within the mountains between France and Spain.

We spent a week driving through the narrow alpine roads visiting and staying at a number of towns. We drove, trekked and walked visiting villages, mountains, caves, an alpine zoo ,as well as, natural, historical and religious sites.

The place seems to have a mystical appeal, especially from a distance.
