MELBOURNE TO HOME - 16 TO 25 APRIL 2022

 16 APRIL

MELBOURNE

We arrived at Melbourne on the ‘Spirit of Tasmania’. The journey was overnight and we had a cabin.

After stopping for breakfast, we drove to Marty and Suzie’s home.

It was a fun day drinking good wine and eating nibbles.

Marty had to visit friend.

17 APRIL

MELBOURNE TO ANGELSEA

After breakfast, we drove to Anglesea and settled into Nick’s house.

Marty and I had a surf on a beach break west of Anglesea and the girls went to another beach for a swim. The surf was okay with a very strong wind.

We had a relaxing afternoon and ate pizza for dinner.

18 APRIL

ANGLESEA TO ALBURY

 My birthday! 66th year!

We said our goodbyes and left Anglesea for Albury.

It was a long drive in off and on rain and some traffic.

19 APRIL

ALBURY

It rained all day.

20 APRIL

ALBURY TO WAGGA WAGGA

We woke to sunshine.

I had a mountain bike ride at Nail Can Hill. It wasn’t that good as the tracks were heavily eroded and there was a need more directional sign.

Later, we sat at park on Murray River. It was very pleasant in the sunshine, watching the river meander along.

We parked in town to see the Mama Art Gallery. There wasn’t much on display.

We drove to Wagga Wagga and settled into a camp beside the Murrumbidgee River.

21APRIL

WAGGA WAGGA

An easy day.

22 APRIL

WAGGA WAGGA TO SUTTON

In the morning, we left the camp area and we had a fun cycle around Lake Albert.

After that, I had a mountain bike ride at Pomingalarna Mountain Bike Park and Jacinta had a walk. The tracks were very good and the ride was heaps of fun.

We left Albury and drove to Sutton. We stayed at Mark’s new home.

23 APRIL

SUTTON

We had a tour of parts of Canberra.

Later, we had a big dinner and a fire afterwards at Chris and Matilda’s place.

24 APRIL

SUTTON TO KIAMA

We said our bye byes and left Sutton.

It was a wet drive and a steep and windy road to the Jamberoo Pub where we met long time friend Beacon and Meryl. It was a great venue and a great afternoon chatting and enjoying each other’s company.

We drove to Kiama to stay with other long-time friends, Grotty and Helen. It was a fun afternoon of chatting, drinking and lots of board games.

25 APRIL

SUTTON TO HOME

After a leisurely breakfast, we farewelled Grotty and Helen and drove back home.

The end of another road adventure. Time goes by so fast and it seems the trip was a blink of the eye.

AUSTRALIA - VICTORIA - MELBOURNE - 13 to 15 january 2014

13th January 2014 Monday

We journeyed onwards to Melbourne to visit Marty and Suzy. It was a bit of a drive as the GPS stopped working for awhile. We got to our destination and it was beer, champagne, wine and schnapps time intertwined with food. A great night!

14th January 2014 Tuesday

We all rode our bikes to breakfast at a café not far away and had a delicious meal. We decided it was way too hot for the bikes so we trammed it into Melbourne. We walked heaps and looked at streets and lanes, art graffiti, art gallery, shops and cafes. There were so many of the latter! It was a cool walk though the weather was hot. We trammed it back to the bikes and air-condition safety.

In the evening, we drove to Brunswick Street for dinner at a Mexican restaurant. The food was excellent and the street very interesting

AUSTRALIA - VICTORIA - 21 to 25 february 2013

Time to catch up with Marty.

I met Marty and his mates in Bali a number of years ago. Since then we have caught up together a few times and even  had a surf trip to Sumbawa.

I caught a train to the airport then Jetstar to Melbourne. The flight was fun - delay 1 flight leaving later, then delay 2 auxilary batttery broke so no air con, then delay 3 gangway broke down, then delay 4 jet in front broke down, then delay 5 electrical storm so no work. But yes, I did make it to Marty's, who was waiting at the airport for me (long wait).

The first night was relaxing with 1/2 slab of beer.

In the car and off to the west coast. The waves were small and bumpy but it was still fun. We surfed at Bells then drove to Nick's place at Anglesea. The night was more beers, Jack Daniels, etc, etc.

We woke up bright and cheery and went for a wave at some beach. A nice left breaking very fast over a very shallow sand bank. Getting the right wave was a bit hard.

Back to the ranch, and Wassa and Barn had turned up so back to drinking, etc. Later a friend of Marty's Di turned up. It was a fun night!!!

The morning was beautiful. A few of us went to the beach for a morning swim.

Back to Nick's and then off to Marty's. We dropped around to visit Zac and buy a wetsuit. A quiet night and then the journey back home.

Marty dropped me at the airport. And yes, there were delays again. Delay 1, the baggage conveyor had broken down so the line up was very very long, delay 2 the plane was late arriving therefore late leaving, delay 3 we moved gates and finally, delay 4 the gangway to the plane broke down (must have borowed the one from Sydney).

It was a great few days. I had lots of fun and enjoyed the great company.

CENTRAL COAST - 4 TO 11 MARCH 2023

4 MARCH I woke and unloaded and tidied the van. I drove Jacinta to the Hens party for Chloe at Glenworth Valley. Back home and I tidi...
